This collection is based on an analysis of "The staple wardrobe" and a fascination with the idea of being "overdressed or underdressed for the level of formality", as well as the tactile associations linked to feeling out of place in terms of clothing. Our clothes act as vestimentary linguistics, communicating our intentions and destination to both ourselves and others. We dress differently depending on where we are going and what environment we are in. My aim is to investigate how I can create a collection where the meeting between tactility, silhouette and details creates an interface between aesthetic categories with a narrative. Through this study I want to challenge and explore conventional perceptions of formal and informal dress and create clothing that does not necessarily fit into traditional categories. From this meeting between tactility, silhouette and details, can I develop a collection that challenges "The staple wardrobe" but also creates a dynamic and subtle transition between these different levels of formality?
